FOR CLINICS & PATIENTS
Travel preparation checklist
Bring this to a pre-travel appointment. Write personal details on your own copy.
Before booking
- Check destination, transit and re-entry rules for your passport and travel document.
- Match the advice to tourism, work, study, family or residence—not just the country.
- Confirm required HIV tests, disclosure rules, consequences and available exceptions.
- Read current government travel advice for wider risks and insurance validity.
With your HIV care team
- Plan the medicine supply and contingency for delays; check import limits and permits.
- Prepare original labelled packaging and an appropriate prescription / medical letter.
- Discuss vaccine suitability, other medicines, interactions and time-zone dosing.
- Agree a plan if medicine is lost, delayed or unavailable. Don’t assume a local refill is possible.
- Locate a clinic, check visitor eligibility, exact regimen stock, costs and confidentiality.
Documents & support
- Confirm pre-existing-condition and HIV coverage with the insurer.
- Keep secure copies of relevant documents and contact details.
- Decide whom to contact if questioned, refused boarding or unable to access medicine.
- Recheck rules before departure; save dated sources and written answers.
